Corrugated box overview

There are different kinds of packaging and transportation in the world, and the corrugated box can stand out because it is simple, lightweight and versatile, which makes product transportation and sales easier. Today's corrugated carton occupies an important position in product marketing, and its brand-new image is born out of a plain "paper box". Please take a look at the multiple functions of the corrugated box: the style, shape and design of the carton make the product packaging full of life, and also make the product more efficient in transportation and storage. Exaggerated patterns, eye-catching colors and unique shapes can all attract attention, so as to achieve the effect of passing fast sales. The carton is printed with information about product content, size, quantity, instructions for use and handling instructions, etc., so that your product can be delivered to the destination quickly and intact. Corrugated paper products can use recycled resources and are suitable for recycling after use. Corrugated boxes are made of wood fibers, which can be decomposed by natural action; and the wood will not dry up under planned planting and harvesting. Most of the discarded corrugated cardboard boxes can be recycled to create new paper materials, which is a great contribution to environmental protection.

What is corrugated cardboard? Corrugated cardboard is a multi-layered adhesive body, which is composed of at least one layer of corrugated core paper sandwich (commonly known as "pit sheet" or "corrugated paper") and one layer of cardboard (commonly known as "cowhide card"). It has high mechanical strength and can withstand collisions and falls during handling. The actual performance of the corrugated carton depends on three factors: the characteristics of the core paper and cardboard and the structure of the carton itself. Classification of corrugated cardboard According to different combinations, corrugated cardboard can be divided into the following five types: 1) The cardboard composed of a layer of core paper and kraft card is called "corrugated cardboard". The corrugated cardboard is generally only used for cushion, spacing and wrapping irregularly shaped objects. 2) The cardboard consisting of one layer of core paper and two layers of upper and lower kraft cards is called "single pit cardboard". 3) The two-layer core paper is sandwiched between three-layer kraft cards and is called "double-pit cardboard". Double-pit paperboard can be composed of pit paper with different pit widths and different paper quality, such as "B" pit paper and "C" pit paper. 4) The three-layer core paper is sandwiched between four-layer kraft cards and is called "Sankeng Cardboard". 5) The super strong double body paperboard is developed from the single-pit paperboard, and a layer of core paper in the middle is formed by stacking two thick core papers. What is gratifying is that today we can produce many different combinations of corrugated board, these boards have different characteristics and strengths to meet the changing needs of the market. Types of pits Corrugated cardboard can be further subdivided according to the size of the pits on the core paper, that is, its height and the number of pits in each unit. There are four types of core paper pits. The following table shows the paperboard produced by Mitsubishi and Langston pit machines. The carton caused by thicker "A" pits has better top and bottom compressive strength than "B" and "C", but the thinner "B" compared to "A" and "B" pits "The pit pattern has better resistance to pressure. The "A" and "C" pits are used in the manufacture of cartons that are under pressure and require cushions for packaging. The "B" pit pattern is suitable for carton manufacturing where the capacity and space are more important, and the stacking strength is less important. The "E" pit pattern has the highest compression resistance, but its shock absorption capacity is slightly worse. It is mainly used for corrugated cardboard boxes (color printing) carrying heavy objects.

Core paper materials

The larger the pit diameter of corrugated cardboard, the stronger its rigidity. The toughness of the paperboard is derived from the core paper layer without the need for thick and hard fillers. This can reduce the weight of the cardboard and its cost. The core paper can be made of semi-chemical pulp (which provides the best paper strength) and recycled paper stock. The latter is used by Hong Kong manufacturers because of its low cost. Although the paper strength is not as good as the former, it can be improved by adding starch to the paper mill. The pit pattern occupies a certain space in the corrugated paper, and its role is also very important. Through it, it can withstand flat pressure, side pressure and various other irregular pressures.

Cowhide card

Kraft cards form the inner and outer layers of corrugated cardboard, and their functions can be structural and / or decorative. The various layers of kraft cards provide various characteristics for the cardboard, and these characteristics can be expanded through processing procedures such as bonding and waxing.

Enlightenment of structural strength

If the strength of the carton does not meet the requirements, you need to find out the problem. Don't take it for granted that all cartons must be thickened and hardened. Be aware that it is costly to make such "feeding" cartons. Therefore, the problem carton should be studied and the right medicine should be taken. The scope of inspection should be various, such as whether the carton is damaged during transportation, whether the stacking method is improper, whether it is overloaded, and whether it is handled properly; perhaps, the problem can also be traced to the storage method of the empty box. When you take all measures to reduce losses, do not limit yourself to the narrow concept of "thickening and hardening". Remember, changing the shape of the carton often has the same effect! Find out that you already have an excellent and capable carton supplier, and he can meet your individual needs and can give you technical guidance on carton and related components at any time.

There are three major test categories for corrugated boxes: · Pit paper and kraft card test; · Corrugated board test; · Entire carton test. Test items, basis weight test, core paper flat pressure test, ring pressure test, core paper side pressure test, kraft card side pressure test, corrugated cardboard flat pressure test, corrugated cardboard side pressure test, burst strength test, box pressure test, carton Drop test.

Notice to Purchasing Managers: Knowing more about the design of the industry and transportation packaging of the wader carton will enable you to understand how to save money. Choose the core paper and kraft card you need: Various combinations of core paper and kraft card can make the carton factory manufacture from strong and cheap carton products to delicate but expensive products, which can almost meet the needs of the goods. Packaging needs. Selecting different corrugated paperboard can receive some special effects, such as compression, shockproof, weight-bearing, etc. Proper choice can also reduce the use of materials and storage space.

Strive for standardization

Corrugated cardboard is produced from large paper rolls. Every new combination of kraft card and core paper requires a shutdown and a new paper roll, which results in waste of machine interposition and production materials. In other words, assisting the paper mill to reduce the number of paper changes is like reducing his losses, thereby reducing your costs.

Familiar with the production operation of the carton factory

As a carton factory customer, you'd better understand their equipment and how Mingliao uses its production flexibility, which can help you find a "throttle" way, so as to create conditions for your company to expand its business.

Understand the cost saving method of carton factory

Consult your carton factory's tips on cost savings, which may be in the cardboard processing process or printing process. One thing worth noting is the printing on the carton. Uniform printing can save money, because no special spot color is needed, and it can be printed together with other orders without downtime cleaning. Red and black are two commonly used printing colors. With the above arrangement, you can benefit even more. In the process of processing paper products, occasionally defective products are picked out. If the manufacturer agrees to use them, they can use them as cushions or intervals. This is also a way to save a lot of money. From the perspective of printing, the cost of printing plates is quite high, and this expense can sometimes be applied elsewhere. To reduce costs, it is necessary to reduce the conversion patterns or marks.

Procurement should be concentrated, and do not diversify

Your order quantity per order has the greatest impact on cost. It is important to know that starting and shutting down is very expensive; for example, when starting up for mass production, not only the product quality is the same, but also the cost is lighter. It is impossible for a carton factory to produce the exact number of cartons for users every time, but there will be surplus. The user can leave the remaining cartons as spares without waste. That is to say, it is necessary to allow the cartons to have appropriate flexibility in the quantity delivered; otherwise, more cartons will still fall on the customer's order cost.

Make full use of carton style and shape

Cardboard boxes can be designed into various shapes to meet various needs, but generally speaking, the carton with the smallest area and the strongest paper material has the lowest cost. Standard slotted container (Regular Slotted Container, R.S.C.) whose length is twice the width and height is equal to the length (that is, L = 2W = H) is a design that makes the most effective use of corrugated paper area. Of course, other carton designs also have certain economic, practical and convenient values. The carton design can be handed over to the carton factory. Using their professional knowledge, production experience and advanced computer equipment, you can design the carton style with the smallest area and the most suitable. After reading and comparing the various carton boxes in detail, you might get some surprises. It is worth mentioning that the product is placed in the carton. If the products in the carton are rearranged, the unexpected effect is often the same as changing to a carton with a better shape.

No need for penny to win goodwill

Every opportunity should be seized to show the public that you care about society and value overall interests. For example, printing recycling marks on the carton, indicating the best multi-box stacking method, storage form, expiration date and other relevant materials for protecting the product. This kind of uncommon words and phrases are used to promote your company. You won the goodwill without penny.

Working hand in hand with the carton factory

Cost saving depends on the joint efforts of the purchasing staff in the distribution chain, the carton factory and each operator. Everyone must have the concept of cost savings. The goal of the carton industry is to assist you in accelerating the transportation and sale of commodities after using their cartons, reducing losses, and thus improving profits.

Raw material of corrugated cardboard

1. Trees paper and paper paddles can be made from a variety of plant fibers, but trees and non-woods are the most used materials for paper.

Second, the chemical composition of wood The following table is the typical chemical composition of coniferous and broad-leaved wood. But it is difficult to accurately write the chemical formula of wood, because wood is a complex and uneven natural product composed of a variety of molecular compounds. The main components of wood are cellulose (40-50%), hemicellulose (20-35%), wood (20-30%) and solvents (3-3, 5%). However, it can be said that it is impossible to sort out these chemical components without structural changes and decomposition. If you study the main components of wood, most of it is composed of polysaccharides, accounting for about 60-80%; if the wood polysaccharides are decomposed with dilute acid and water, you can know that it is composed of glucose and mannose , Xylose and other high molecular carbohydrates composed of monosaccharides. The main polysaccharide components of wood can be divided into cellulose whole cellulose hemicellulose. Treat whole cellulose with dilute alkali (such as 17, 5% NaOH or 10-24% KOH) at room temperature, then wood 15-30% of the dissolution is hemicellulose, and the insoluble is cellulose.

3. The raw material of pulp paper is pulp, which is mainly made of wood, and its manufacturing method is roughly as follows: chemical pulp pulp semi-chemical pulp machinery (physical) pulp 1, chemical pulp chemical pulp is in the process of making pulp, The pulp made mainly from chemicals is, of course, different depending on the drugs used and the manufacturing method. Compared with the process pulp that removes the intermediate layer lignin from the raw materials, it has the disadvantages of low raw material utilization rate and high production cost. (1) Kraft pulp Kraft pulp is a kind of pulp made by chemical method, also called sulfate pulp. The word Kraft means strong in Sweden. Because the paper made from the byproduct Glauber's salt from the Swedish chemical plant is very strong, it is called kraft paper. (2) Semi-chemical pulp Semi-chemical pulp is a kind of pulp made by removing a part of lignin contained in wood first and then mechanically crushing the remaining softened wood chips. In other words, chemical processing and mechanical processing account for half of the manufacturing methods. The purity and strength of semi-chemical pulp is higher than that of wood pulp, that is, mechanically treated pulp, and the yield is higher than that of chemical pulp made by chemical methods. 2. Waste paper pulp The so-called waste paper pulp is the used waste paper, put in the deconsolidation machine device like the fruit juice grinder, and twisted back and forth to decompose the mutually coalesced fibers into porridge. The waste paper pulp used in the surface bottom slurry of corrugated paperboard is mainly made of kraft paper and corrugated paper scraps, so its strength is very high. Second, the distinction between paper and paperboard is divided into paper and paperboard according to their thickness. It is customary to call thick paper with a weight of more than 200g per square area as paperboard, and paper with a weight of less than 200g. However, with the improvement of mechanical equipment, materials, and process technology, there has been the appearance of thin paper board also known as light corrugated paper and cardboard. Its category has exceeded 200g of secular regulations, and it is also divided into heavy corrugated board production line and light corrugated production machinery Cardboard production line, our company's three existing cardboard production lines are all light cardboard production lines. There are about 5,000 kinds of paper and cardboard in the world, and there are 500-600 kinds of paper and cardboard produced in China. The main varieties used for commodity packaging are box board paper, corrugated base paper, white board paper, yellow board paper, kraft paper, glass card Paper, tar paper, coated paper, offset paper, coated paper, special paper, adhesive coated base paper, etc., and the main production of corrugated cardboard boxes are cardboard paper and corrugated base paper. 3. Identification of the front and back sides of paper or paperboard No matter which paper or paperboard has front and back sides, when making paper, the contact surface of the wet paper web and the web is the back side, and the other side is the front side. Due to the contact with the copper mesh on the reverse side, the loss of fine fibers and fillers is more, showing the screen printing, so the reverse side is relatively rough. The front is closer, and there is a clear difference in the nature of the front and back. The smoothness is higher on the front side than on the reverse side, and the speed of the roughening is higher on the reverse side than on the front side; the reverse side on the white point is better than the front side, so paper and cardboard have two sides. Both sides have a great influence on the printing quality. Generally, the smoothness and sizing degree of the front are better, so the printing performance is also better. When making paper for carton, the front of the paper must face outwards for printing and moisture-proof treatment. For this reason, the front and back of the paper or cardboard must be identified. For the lined board, the color of the paste is better than the color of the mortar. The front and back sides are the easiest to identify. Some papers or cardboards are made with a multi-cylinder paper machine or calendered by a calender. At this time, the following methods can be used for identification: 1. Direct observation method. Fold the paper or cardboard and observe the surface shape structure on both sides. If there is paper machine screen printing, the screen printing surface is the reverse side. When it is unclear to the naked eye, you can use a magnifying glass or a smooth instrument to measure. 2. Observe the method of pressing with carbon paper. Press the carbon paper on the paper surface, and then observe the paper surface to make a mark on the paper, so that the traces of the carbon paper are pressed on the paper, and a black trace of about 13㎜ wide and 51-76㎜ long can be drawn , When observing, it can be placed on a smooth surface glass and identified according to method 1. 3. Use the coin method (aluminum) for marking. Fold the paper so that the two sides are placed on a flat surface, and use a coin to make a trace on both sides. Observe the depth of the trace on both sides. The shallow side is the reverse side. This is due to the low filler content on the mesh surface and the scratches are not easy to show. . Fourth, the longitudinal and transverse identification of paper or cardboard Paper and cardboard have a certain directionality after screen forming, generally parallel to the cardboard running direction is longitudinal, and perpendicular to the running direction is lateral. Vertical and horizontal directions are usually available
